In 2022 Team Australia will travel to Denmark with a justified sense of confidence that a good result will be possible in the Speedway of Nations (SoN) after naming the team for 2022:

Team Australia

  • Jason Doyle (Captain)
  • Max Fricke
  • Jack Holder

This will be Jack Holder’s first ever Speedway of Nations, while Doyle and Fricke have multiple SoN tournaments under their collective belts as Australia looks to win our first SoN despite having won the Speedway World Cup (last in 2002) the event format that preceded the Speedway of Nations. In 2023 the event will revert to the Speedway World Cup once again.

Mark Lemon will again guide the Senior and Under 21 Team Australia members as Team Manager.

This is the first event of a new era for the FIM SoN under new global promoter Discovery Sports Events.

Peter Doyle, CEO, Motorcycling Australia (MA): “Team Australia looks as strong as we have ever seen and I think they will all do us proud at the 2022 Speedway of Nations. Mark (Lemon) has done a terrific job pulling it all together and now it’s down to this wonderfully talented team to finish it in Denmark!”

The format for 2022 will see each nation select two starters as their number one and number two, along with a third reserve rider who can be called into race as a substitute by the team manager at any time throughout the event.

In 2022, the SoN will be held at Vojens Speedway Center in Denmark from July 27-30, 2022 when reigning SoN Champions Great Britain seek to go back to back.

This will be the first time in SoN history that the entire tournament will be held over multiple days at the same venue.

Racing gets underway with Semi-Final 1 on Wednesday, July 27, featuring Poland, Australia, Latvia, Germany, USA, Ukraine and Finland.

The top three teams from each Semi-Final then join host nation Denmark in the FIM SoN Final on Saturday, July 30, when the 2022 world team champions will be crowned.

The Under 21 competition takes to the track on July 29th and their tournament will be completed on that day. Team Australia Uunder 21 will seek to beat Sweden, Poland, Great Britain, Denmark, Czech Republic and Latvia.

In 2022 the Speedway of Nations will be available live via Foxtel and Kayo. Check their digital guides for details.
