The Sidewinders U16’s Club in South Australia has run a very successful 2022 Australian Speedway U 16’s 125cc Championship event with Champions crowned in both the Teams and Individual categories.

Australia’s best Junior Speedway riders took on the 112-meter dedicated Sidewinders Speedway junior motorcycle track and impressed the assembled crowd with a display of fast, skilled and disciplined speedway racing.

In the Teams event, the final points result was incredibly close as the Western Australian pairing of McDiarmid and Metcalf took a single point win over SA1’s Jansen-Batchelor and Sadler and NSW1 Graham and Bailey in third.

For the individual event, familiar names returned, and Beau Bailey was crowned 2022 champion ahead of Mitchell McDiarmid with Ashley Jansen-Bachelor filling out the podium.

Ivan Golding, Chair of the Track Commission spoke about the Championships, “It was a great event- the venue and the track was excellent. All of the riders rode very well- and they behaved themselves!

“Seeing twelve-year-old Beau Bailey take the title was fantastic. He would have to be the youngest winner in my memory. Seeing the standard of the competition at the event showed the depth of talent in Australian Speedway and future looks bright!”
